Saigon to Phnom Penh Overland

From $887pp TWN

Departing: Saigon daily

Grading: Easy to Moderate

The most exciting and atmospheric way to soak up the ambience of Southern Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, followed by a thrilling speedboat journey straight to Cambodia’s capital – our favourite way to get from A to B!

Day 1: Experience a side of Vietnam few travellers witness as you travel through lush landscapes and expansive waterways deep into the Mekong Delta – known as the ‘ricebowl’ of Vietnam. Pass farmers tending their fields as you head towards Vinh Long in the heart of the Delta, Vietnam’s agricultural heartland. After a journey on the Mekong River, continue by road to Can Tho. In the evening you can enjoy dinner at a delicious local restaurant.

Day 2: Board a boat at dawn to see the fascinating floating market at Cai Rang, then continue on to Chau Doc for a boat ride amongst the floating houses with their fish farms suspended underneath. In the afternoon climb Sam Mountain, a place of worship for ethnic Chinese, to enjoy spectacular sunset views over the Cambodian frontier.

Day 3: Rise early for a visit to the riverside market in Chau Doc, then board your boat and cross the border from Vietnam into Cambodia. During the Vietnam War, this stretch of water was one of the most dangerous on the Mekong, but today the scenery is stunning and the people welcoming and lovely. On arrival in Phnom Penh enjoy a final night on the town, where you can dine at one of Phnom Penh’s many fantastic restaurants.

Inclusions: 3 nights accommodation, breakfast daily, private touring, local English-speaking guides, all transport as specified, arrival and departure transfers, entrance fees
