Hoi An, on Vietnam's beautiful central coast, has quickly become a "must see" for most visitors to Vietnam. This historic town is a step back in time, with centuries-old architecture, narrow streets, a traditional fishing market and friendly locals. The town has been designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO and offers a rare chance to see the Vietnam of old. Apart from the many restaurants, numerous shops (particularly tailors) make the town a bargain-hunters' paradise.
The region offers other attractions such as famous China Beach, the sacred Marble Mountains and the remarkable former Cham capital at My Son. Danang is a major hub with an international and domestic airport and regular train services. Danang is also home to the unique Cham museum.
