Koh Samui

It's easy to let the sun and sea of Koh Samui lull you into the feeling that you never want to budge from the beach. What many visitors to the island don't know is that Koh Samui offers much more than golden, sandy beaches.  You can experience the unique Thai Buddhist culture at any one of the 6 wats on the island - join the locals for meditation at the Suan Dharmapala temple or spook yourself with the ghostly Mummified Monk at Wat Khunaraam.  The best time to visit Koh Samui is between January and September when most days will be filled with sun, except for the occasional downpour, which usually doesn't last long. The most frequent showers (though not monsoons) come in October, and last until sometime in December. Water sports enthusiasts should note that the sea can get rough at this time, and visibility can be affected.
