Japan is a land of contradictions; from sky-scraping cities to rustic rural villages, cutting-edge technologies to timeless traditions, this is a country rich in cultural anomalies and fascinating contrasts. Visitors to this island nation will recognise the bright lights and bustle of east coast mega-cities, but will marvel at the age-old villages and rugged mountain landscapes of a beautiful interior, and at the graciousness of hospitable people. A visit to intriguing Japan is sure to surprise and will leave you with much to think about. |

Kyoto This ancient capital of Japan is deservedly famous as the home of all that is refined and unique about Japanese culture. In Kyoto, we will see tea ceremonies, kimono-clad women, the delightful Pontocho Lane, a sample of the cities 1,600 temples and shrines and - if we are lucky - a geisha in the famous Gion area. Kyoto is a wonderful place to spend extra time with post tour accommodation.

Osaka Japan's 'second city' and the lively economic hub of the lively Kansai area bristles with neon lights, skyscrapers, and friendly people. Osaka is also known as the home of some wonderful Japanese food (including okonomoyaki and takoyaki) and an imposing, restored castle. Osaka is also a possible base for discoveries of Kyoto (only twenty minutes away), and nearby Nara, as well as an interesting destination in its own right.

Tokyo Bustling Tokyo is a truly great city, packed with neon-plastered shops, towering skyscrapers and some of the most frenetic street life in the world. Yet for all its 'busyness' this capital of Japan and the world's largest city is home to a contrasting range of age-old, and modern sites. Our touring in Tokyo takes in the historic Imperial Palace, ancient Askakusa Temple, as well as views of the modern metropolis from the dizzying heights of Tokyo Tower.
